# How to Detach Component Figma

This guide provides a step-by-step process to detach a component in Figma, ensuring you can customize and modify designs with ease.

1. **Open Your Figma File** – Launch Figma and open the design file that contains the component you want to detach.
2. **Select the Component Instance** – Click on the component instance that you want to break away from the main component.
3. **Right-Click on the Component** – Right-click on the selected instance to open the context menu.
4. **Choose “Detach Instance”** – Click on **Detach Instance** from the menu. Alternatively, press `Ctrl + Alt + B` (Windows) or `Cmd + Option + B` (Mac).
5. **Edit Freely** – The component is now detached and turned into regular layers you can edit without affecting the master component.
