# How to Do Ranking in Google Forms

This guide walks you through setting up ranking questions in Google Forms, allowing respondents to prioritize options.

1. **Open Google Forms** – Go to [Google Forms](https://forms.google.com/) and open an existing form or create a new one.
2. **Add a Question** – Click the **“+”** button to insert a new question.
3. **Choose “Multiple-choice grid” or “Checkbox grid”** –
   
      - Select **“Multiple-choice grid”** for a ranked-choice format.
      - Select **“Checkbox grid”** if users can select multiple options per row.
4. **Enter Options and Criteria** –
   
      - List ranking items as rows.
      - Add ranking numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) as columns.
5. **Enable Required Row Selection (Optional)** – Click the three-dot menu (︙) and check **“Require a response in each row”** to ensure users rank all items.
6. **Adjust Settings** –
   
      - Go to the **“Settings”** tab.
      - Enable **“Collect email addresses”** (optional) if tracking is needed.
7. **Save and Share** – Click **“Send”** to distribute the form via email, link, or embed it on a website.
