1. **Open Google Docs** – Head over to [docs.google.com](https://docs.google.com/) and open the document where you want to add a graph.
2. **Click on “Insert”** – In the top menu bar, click **“Insert”** to open the dropdown options.
3. **Hover Over “Chart”** – In the dropdown, hover your mouse over **“Chart”**. You’ll see multiple graph options like **Bar, Column, Line, and Pie**.
4. **Choose the Type of Graph** – Select the graph type you want to insert (e.g., **Bar chart**). A sample chart will be added to your doc.
5. **Click on “Linked Chart Options”** – Under the graph, click the drop-down arrow and select **“Open source”**. This will open a linked **Google Sheets** file.
6. **Edit the Data in Google Sheets** – In the linked spreadsheet, update the chart data with your own numbers and labels.
7. **Update the Chart in Docs** – Go back to your Google Docs file, and click the **“Update”** button on the chart. Your graph will refresh with the new data.
8. **Done** – Your custom graph is now fully added and updated in your document — perfect for reports, assignments, or presentations.
