# How to Make a Grid in Figma

This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough on how to create a layout grid in Figma. Follow these steps to set up a grid that can help you align and organize your design elements effectively.

1. **Open Your Figma File** – Launch Figma and open the design file where you want to add a grid.
2. **Select a Frame** – Click on the frame (artboard) where you want the grid to appear. Grids can only be applied to frames, not individual elements.
3. **Go to Layout Grid Panel** – In the right-hand panel, scroll down to the **Layout grid** section.
4. **Click the “+” Icon** – Click the “+” button to add a new layout grid to your selected frame.
5. **Choose Grid Type** – Click on the dropdown next to “Grid” and select from:
