# How to Mute Zoom

This guide will walk you through the steps required to mute yourself during a Zoom meeting. Follow each step carefully to ensure successful muting and maintain audio control in your meeting.

1. **Join or Start a Zoom Meeting** – Open the Zoom app or browser and enter any ongoing meeting.
2. **Locate the Mute Button** – At the bottom-left of the Zoom window, you’ll see a **microphone icon**.
3. **Click to Mute Yourself** – Tap the **microphone icon** once to mute your audio. It will show a red line when muted.
4. **Use Keyboard Shortcut** – Press **Alt + A** (Windows) or **Command + Shift + A** (Mac) to quickly mute/unmute.
5. **Auto-Mute When Joining** – Go to **Settings > Audio** → Tick **“Mute my mic when joining a meeting”** for automatic muting.
6. **Mute Others as Host** – If you're the host:
   
      - Click **“Participants”**
      - Click **“Mute All”** at the bottom to mute everyone at once.
7. **Temporarily Unmute (Push to Talk)** – Hold the **Spacebar** to temporarily unmute yourself while muted (works on desktop).
