# How to Sort by Date in Google Sheets

Easily organize your data by date in Google Sheets. Follow these simple steps to sort your entries efficiently.

1. Select the column that contains the dates by clicking on the column letter.
2. Click on **Data** in the top menu and choose **Sort range** from the dropdown.
3. If your column has a header (like “Date”), check the box for **Data has a header row** to exclude it from sorting.
4. Choose either **Sort A → Z** (oldest to newest) or **Sort Z → A** (newest to oldest).
5. Click **Sort**, and the entire column will be arranged accordingly.
6. If you want to keep related data together (such as names and dates), select the entire dataset before sorting.
