# How to Turn Off Camera on Zoom

Follow these simple steps to turn off your camera during a Zoom meeting. This guide will help you maintain privacy or manage your video feed effectively.

1. **Open the Zoom App** – Launch the Zoom app on your computer or mobile device and sign in to your account.
2. **Join or Start a Meeting** – Enter an ongoing meeting or start a new one from your Zoom dashboard.
3. **Locate the Camera Icon** – At the bottom-left corner of the Zoom meeting toolbar, you’ll see a **video camera icon** labeled **“Stop Video.”**
4. **Click “Stop Video”** – Click the **“Stop Video”** button to immediately turn off your camera. The icon will now have a red slash through it, meaning your camera is off.
5. **Confirm Camera is Off** – Your video feed will disappear from your screen and from others' view in the meeting. Your name or profile picture will now show instead.
6. **Optional: Set Camera Off by Default** –
   
      - Go to **Settings > Video** in Zoom.
      - Check the box that says **“Turn off my video when joining a meeting”** to always keep it off when you enter.
7. **Turn Camera Back On (If Needed)** – Just click the same **“Start Video”** button to turn your camera back on anytime during the meeting.
8. **Done** – Your camera is now off, giving you more privacy or saving bandwidth during Zoom calls.
