How to Do Lead Scoring in
HubSpot
This guide will help you through the step-by-step process of doing lead scoring in HubSpot. Lead scoring helps you prioritize leads for your sales team by assigning values based on their behavior and engagement.
Log in to HubSpot
Head to hubspot.com and sign in to your account with admin access.
Go to Settings
Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the top-right corner to open your account settings.
Navigate to Properties
In the left sidebar, go to “Data Management” → “Properties.”
Search for ‘HubSpot Score’
Use the search bar to find the default “HubSpot Score” property (this is where lead scoring happens).
Edit the Scoring Property
Click on “HubSpot Score” and then hit “Edit” to start adding your scoring criteria.
Add Positive Scoring Criteria
Click “+ Add criteria” under the Positive section (e.g., "Contact opened a marketing email" → +5 points).
Add Negative Scoring Criteria
Use the Negative section to subtract points (e.g., "Bounced email" → -10 points).
Save and Use It in Filters or Workflows
Click Save, and now you can use this score in smart lists, workflows, or sales qualification filters.
