How to Change Host in Zoom

This guide will walk you through the steps needed to change the host of a Zoom meeting. Follow these instructions to transfer host control to another participant.

  1. Start or Join the Meeting – Open the Zoom app and either start a new meeting or join an existing one.

  2. Open Participants Panel – Click on the “Participants” button at the bottom of the Zoom window to open the participants list.

  3. Hover Over the Participant's Name – Find the participant you want to make the host and hover over their name in the participants list.

  4. Click More – Once you hover over their name, click on the “More” button (three dots) next to their name.

  5. Select “Make Host” – From the dropdown menu, select “Make Host” to transfer the host controls to that participant.

  6. Confirm Host Change – A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm that you want to transfer the host role. Click “Yes” to confirm.

  7. Host Role Transfer Complete – The participant will now have host privileges, including the ability to manage participants, share their screen, and more.

  8. Done – The participant is now the host, and you may continue the meeting as a regular participant, or you can leave the meeting if necessary.
