How to Duplicate in Figma

Follow these steps to easily duplicate objects within your Figma design files.

  1. Select the Object – Click on the frame, shape, text, or component you want to duplicate.

  2. Use Keyboard Shortcut – Press Ctrl + D (Windows) or Cmd + D (Mac) to instantly duplicate.

  3. Drag While Holding Alt/Option – Hold Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac), then drag the object to duplicate it manually.

  4. Use Right-Click Menu – Right-click on the object and choose Duplicate from the dropdown.

  5. Layer Appears Above – The duplicated item appears directly above the original in the layers panel.

  6. Move or Edit – Position and modify the duplicate as needed.

  7. Repeat if Needed – Use Ctrl/Cmd + D again to repeat the last duplication pattern.
