How to Edit in Figma

This guide provides a step-by-step process on how to make specific edits in Figma. Follow these steps carefully to successfully complete the editing task.

  1. Open Your Figma File – Launch Figma and open the design file you want to edit.

  2. Select the Element – Click on the text, shape, image, or component you want to edit.

  3. Edit Text – Double-click on any text layer to start typing and make changes.

  4. Edit Shapes or Images – Select the shape or image, then use the right-hand panel to adjust color, size, stroke, effects, etc.

  5. Move or Resize Elements – Click and drag to move, or drag corners to resize. Hold Shift to maintain proportions.

  6. Use the Properties Panel – Use the right-hand panel for fine-tuning like alignment, rotation, opacity, and constraints.

  7. Edit Components – Double-click to go inside a component and make changes. Edits will reflect wherever it’s used (unless it's detached).

  8. Done – Your design is now updated with your edits.
