How to Use Pen Tool in Figma

This guide provides a step-by-step process to use the Pen Tool in Figma. Follow these instructions to create custom shapes and vector paths seamlessly.

1. Open Your Figma File – Launch Figma and open the design file where you want to draw using the pen tool.

2. Select the Pen Tool – Click the Pen Tool icon in the top toolbar, or press P on your keyboard.

3. Click to Create Straight Lines – Click once to create anchor points. Figma will connect them with straight lines.

4. Click and Drag for Curves – Click and drag to create a curved line. Adjust the direction handles to fine-tune the curve.

5. Close the Path (Optional) – To make a closed shape, click back on the starting point.

6. Edit the Path – Press Enter to enter vector edit mode. You can now move anchor points, adjust curves, and refine the shape.

7. Finish Drawing – Press Esc or switch tools to stop using the pen tool.

8. Done – Your custom path or shape is now ready to style or use in your design.
