How much does Loom cost?

Last checked: September 7, 2026. Pricing and documented capabilities were checked against the vendors’ current official product pages and documentation.

If you are pricing step-by-step guide tools rather than video, start there. How much does Scribe cost?.

The short answer

Loom, the video messaging tool owned by Atlassian, costs nothing on Starter, $18 per user per month on Business, and $24 per user per month on Business + AI. Enterprise is a custom quote. Those figures are from loom.com/pricing, checked September 7, 2026, and Loom advertises up to 17% off on annual billing. If you are pricing a loom for weaving, this is the wrong page.

Starter is free

Up to 50 members, 25 videos per person, a five-minute cap on each screen recording, and 720p video. Loom branding stays on your videos.

Business is $18 per user per month

Unlimited videos and recording length, up to 4K, trim-and-stitch editing, and Loom branding removed. This is the plan most teams that share videos outside the company end up on.

Business + AI is $24 per user per month

Everything in Business plus the Loom AI suite: auto titles, summaries, chapters, tasks, filler-word removal, and edit-by-transcript. Loom marks this its most popular plan. If AI is why you are buying Loom, $24 is the real entry price, not $18.

Enterprise is a custom quote

Adds SSO and SCIM through Atlassian Guard, a 99.95% uptime SLA, and a dedicated account manager.

Disclosure. This page is published by Layerpath. Layerpath is a different kind of tool from Loom and costs more per seat at every team size. It appears here only where the job changes from recording a video to maintaining reusable software guidance, and the page states plainly where Loom is the better buy.

What each Loom plan includes

Every paid Loom tier is priced per user, so the bill scales with the number of people who need to record.

Loom plans and per-user pricing, from loom.com/pricing, checked September 7, 2026.
PlanPriceWhat you get
Starter$0Up to 50 members, 25 videos per person, 5-minute screen-recording cap, 720p, transcriptions in 50+ languages. Loom branding on videos.
Business$18 per user / monthUnlimited videos and length, up to 4K, trim and stitch, branding removed, custom player, upload and download, password protection, priority support.
Business + AI$24 per user / monthEverything in Business plus the Loom AI suite: auto titles, summaries, chapters, tasks, CTA, filler-word and silence removal, edit by transcript, auto meeting notes.
EnterpriseCustom quoteEverything above plus SSO and SCIM via Atlassian Guard, Salesforce integration, Zoom import, 99.95% uptime SLA, custom data retention, dedicated account manager.

The five-minute cap on Starter matters more than the 25-video limit. Five minutes covers a quick message; it rarely covers a workflow walked through end to end. Removing Loom's branding starts at Business, so any video that goes to a customer effectively starts at $18.

What a Loom team actually pays

Per-user pricing means the total is the number of people recording, times the tier.

Monthly-billed totals, calculated from Loom's per-user rates on September 7, 2026.
People recordingBusiness at $18Business + AI at $24
1$18 / month$24 / month
3$54 / month$72 / month
5$90 / month$120 / month
10$180 / month$240 / month
14$252 / month$336 / month
25$450 / month$600 / month

Annual billing lowers each figure by up to 17%. One detail changes the total and is easy to miss: where you buy Loom changes how you are billed. Per Loom's own FAQ, annual subscriptions bought on loom.com are charged by the distinct number of paid users, while annual subscriptions bought on atlassian.com are billed by user tier, the tier closest to your headcount. If your team sits just above a tier boundary, the two channels are not the same price, and atlassian.com is also where the Atlassian Guard SSO and Confluence and Jira recording entry points live.

Costs the pricing page does not show

Four of these you have to go looking for. The fifth is the one worth the most.

  1. Branding removal is a paid feature. Every Starter video carries Loom branding. If it goes to a customer, budget for Business at $18.

  2. The AI features are a separate tier, not a per-seat add-on. Moving a team from Business to Business + AI is $6 per user per month, for every user.

  3. Transcript text goes to OpenAI. Loom's FAQ states OpenAI receives transcript text to generate titles and summaries, not full video or audio. That is a question for a security review, not a line on the invoice.

  4. 720p and five minutes are the real shape of the free plan, more than the video count.

  5. Re-recording. Loom produces one video per recording. When the product ships a change, that video is wrong, and the only fix Loom offers is to record it again. Nothing on the pricing page charges for this. A team pays it in hours.

Where Layerpath fits, and where it costs more

Layerpath costs more than Loom, at every team size. There is no crossover. We publish that up front because a reader can check it in one click, and the rest of the page is only useful if this part is honest.

Layerpath is priced per creator. A creator makes and edits projects; people who only view are free, the same as Loom's viewers.

Layerpath and Loom on monthly billing, checked September 7, 2026. Layerpath prices per creator; view-only members are free on both.
Creators / recordersLoom BusinessLoom Business + AILayerpath
1$18$24$50, Pro
3$54$72$150, Pro
5$90$120$500, Team
10$180$240$750, Team
14$252$336$950, Team

Layerpath Pro is $50 per creator per month or $500 per year, with one creator included and up to two more; Team is $500 per month or $5,000 per year for five creators, supporting four to fourteen; Enterprise starts at $10,000 per year. Annual billing is two months free. Source: layerpath.com/pricing, checked September 7, 2026.

One edge worth knowing before it surprises you: Pro caps at three creators, and a fourth creator moves you to Team at $500 a month. So going from three creators to four takes you from $150 to $500. Loom has no equivalent step. If you are a four-person team, that jump is the biggest number in this comparison and it is worth a conversation with us rather than a credit card.

The comparison that is not seat price

Both pricing pages price a seat. Neither prices the work that seat has to redo.

Loom's price buys a recording. You press record, talk through the screen, and share the link. When the screen changes, the video keeps showing the old screen until someone records it again. Loom's editing trims and stitches; it does not change what was on screen.

Layerpath's price buys a source you keep. You capture a workflow once, and that one project becomes an interactive tour, a step-by-step guide, and a narrated video. When the product changes, you edit the step that changed and republish all three. You do not record again.

So the honest unit of comparison is not the seat. It is the walkthrough you have to keep accurate. We are not going to attach a number to the saving, because we do not have one we can source and an invented figure is the first thing you could disprove. Run this test on your own numbers instead:

  1. How many product walkthroughs are in your library right now?

  2. How many did you re-record in the last six months because the interface moved, not because the content was wrong?

  3. Who did that re-recording, and what else was on their plate that week?

If the answer to the second question is zero, Loom at $18 is the correct purchase and you can stop here. If it is a recurring item on someone's list, the seat price is no longer the number that decides this.

When Loom is the right answer

Often, and plainly.

Choose Loom when most of what you record is a message: a reply to a colleague, feedback on a design, a sales follow-up, a meeting recap. Those videos are watched once and rarely updated, and Loom is faster and cheaper than anything else for them. Loom is also the better fit if your team lives in Jira and Confluence and wants recording built into those tools, or if you want meeting recordings and notes in one place.

Layerpath does not try to be a screen recorder or a video editor. If that is the job, Loom does it well and costs less. You also do not have to choose only one: Layerpath accepts a Loom recording as an input, so an existing Loom library can be the starting material rather than a write-off.

What the rest of the category costs

Read the shape rather than the rows. The tools in the teens capture and share a recording. The tools around $50 build something and then maintain it. That is not a knock on the cheap end or a defense of the expensive one. It means you should decide which job you are buying before you compare prices, because comparing $18 to $50 across that line tells you almost nothing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Loom cost per month?

$18 per user per month on Business and $24 per user per month on Business + AI, billed monthly, as of September 7, 2026. Starter is free and Enterprise is a custom contract.

Is Loom free?

Yes, the Starter plan. The limits are 50 members, 25 videos per person, a five-minute cap on screen recordings, 720p video, and Loom branding on your videos.

How much is Loom for a team of 10?

$180 a month on Business or $240 a month on Business + AI, on monthly billing. Annual billing takes up to 17% off.

Do Loom's AI features cost extra?

Yes. They are on Business + AI at $24 per user per month, which is $6 more per user than Business at $18. There is a 14-day free trial.

Does Loom cost the same through Atlassian?

The billing basis differs. Annual on loom.com is charged by distinct paid users; annual on atlassian.com is billed by the user tier closest to your count. Compare both if your headcount is near a tier boundary.

Is Layerpath cheaper than Loom?

No. Layerpath Pro is $50 per creator per month and Loom Business is $18 per user per month, so Layerpath costs more at every team size. The case for Layerpath is what a creator seat produces and maintains — a tour, a guide, and a video from one source, updated by editing a step — not what it costs.

Can I bring Loom recordings into Layerpath?

Yes. Upload a Loom recording and Layerpath turns it into an editable project you can publish as a tour, a guide, and a video, and edit as the product changes.

Methodology and sources

Prices change, so every figure on this page carries a date. Where a number here disagrees with a vendor's own pricing page, the vendor's page is correct.

  • Loom plans, tier contents, billing-channel and transcript-processing details: loom.com/pricing and Loom's pricing FAQ, checked September 7, 2026.

  • Layerpath plans: layerpath.com/pricing, checked September 7, 2026.

  • All other vendors in the category table: each vendor's own pricing page, captured August 19, 2026.

  • Team totals are arithmetic on the per-user rates shown; no discount is assumed beyond what each vendor advertises.

Vendor pricing and capabilities change. Everything above was checked on September 7, 2026 and should be re-checked before this page is treated as current.

A recording goes stale. A source you can edit does not.

Turn one captured workflow into a Tour, a Guide, and a Video, and update the step that changed instead of re-recording.
