How to Set Background in Zoom

Follow these steps to successfully set a custom background for your Zoom meetings. This guide will walk you through each action required to change your background image to 'Grass.jpg'.

  1. Open Zoom App – Launch the Zoom Desktop App or go to zoom.us and sign in.

  2. Go to Settings – Click the gear icon (⚙️) on the top-right corner of the Zoom home screen.

  3. Click “Background & Effects” – In the left sidebar, choose “Background & Effects” or “Virtual Background” depending on your Zoom version.

  4. Choose a Default Background – Select one of the built-in Zoom backgrounds (like office, beach, etc.).

  5. Upload Custom Background –

    • Click the “+” icon

    • Choose “Add Image” or “Add Video”

    • Select a file from your computer

  6. Enable Video Preview (Optional) – Check your background in the preview window to adjust positioning or lighting.

  7. Green Screen Option (If Available) – If you have a green screen, tick the “I have a green screen” box for cleaner results.

  8. Done – Your background is now active and will appear in all meetings unless changed.
