How to Turn Off Camera on Zoom
Follow these simple steps to turn off your camera during a Zoom meeting. This guide will help you maintain privacy or manage your video feed effectively.
Open the Zoom App – Launch the Zoom app on your computer or mobile device and sign in to your account.
Join or Start a Meeting – Enter an ongoing meeting or start a new one from your Zoom dashboard.
Locate the Camera Icon – At the bottom-left corner of the Zoom meeting toolbar, you’ll see a video camera icon labeled “Stop Video.”
Click “Stop Video” – Click the “Stop Video” button to immediately turn off your camera. The icon will now have a red slash through it, meaning your camera is off.
Confirm Camera is Off – Your video feed will disappear from your screen and from others' view in the meeting. Your name or profile picture will now show instead.
Optional: Set Camera Off by Default –
Go to Settings > Video in Zoom.
Check the box that says “Turn off my video when joining a meeting” to always keep it off when you enter.
Turn Camera Back On (If Needed) – Just click the same “Start Video” button to turn your camera back on anytime during the meeting.
Done – Your camera is now off, giving you more privacy or saving bandwidth during Zoom calls.
