How to Change the Background
on Zoom
Follow these step-by-step instructions to change your background on Zoom. This guide will help you navigate through the necessary settings to choose your preferred background.
Open Zoom App – Launch the Zoom desktop or mobile app and log into your account.
Go to Settings – On desktop, click the gear icon (⚙️) at the top right. On mobile, tap “More” → “Meetings.”
Select “Background & Effects” – In settings, click on “Background & Effects” or “Virtual Background.”
Enable Virtual Backgrounds – If prompted, download the Zoom virtual background package to activate the feature.
Choose a Default Background – Zoom provides a few built-in backgrounds like beach, office, or grass — click any to apply.
Upload Custom Background (Optional) – Click the “+” icon to upload your own image or video as a virtual background.
Preview and Adjust – Check your video preview to see how the background looks. Make sure you have good lighting for best results.
Close Settings and Join/Continue Meeting – Once applied, close the settings — your new background will now appear live in meetings.
